Part of our commitment to the local community is to inspire the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs. Aware of our role within the community we actively use our industry knowledge in schools and local groups to inspire young minds that are keen to learn more about the construction industry, and to help develop the technological understanding of the innovators of the future.
We recently sent along our Operations Manager Brian McMenamin to talk to the P4 & P6 children of Rosemount Primary & Nursery school. As part of the STEM Influencer program, Brian provided an overview of some of the projects we have recently been working on. We understand that STEM-based education teaches children far more than science, technology, engineering and mathematical concepts – with a focus on hands-on learning and real-world applications it develops life-long skills such as curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication and collaboration.
Following the talk the children were then challenged to make a tall freestanding structure and great fun was had by all.
