Our team have recently completed on site in Slough, where a new carriageway has been built, to provide access to an existing gravel quarry and landfill site that is undergoing a large extension.
The Poyle Quarry extension retains the use of the plant site and haul road. We were instructed by our client to construct a new access road from the plant site to Poyle Road. We also carried out section 278 works on the Poyle Road. A section 278 agreement is a section of the Highways Act 1980 that allows developers to enter into a legal agreement with the council to make permanent alterations or improvements to a public highway, as part of a planning approval.
This project is truly transformational for the local area as it will significantly improve traffic flows, which will help residents and visitors to get around as well as bring meaningful benefits to local businesses.
Works on this project included:
- Removal of existing soft verges and installation of a shared cycle and pedestrian pathway
- Surface drainage
- S278 works along the Poyle Road
- Construction of a new hard standing for a weighbridge, wheel cleaning and office infrastructure
