The project consisted of construction of a new waste transfer station (wts) building, associated dual weighbridge, weighbridge office, car park, vehicle wash area and an office building containing staff welfare provision, showers, administration/office areas and meeting room.

The site is capable of handling 51,250 tonnes of municipal waste per year. The facility comprises a 60m x 34m Waste Transfer Station with 5m high reinforced concrete pushwalls, together with a welfare office, weighbridge office with 18m long In/Out weighbridges, sprinkler tank, staff parking and an external concrete service yard.

The site was a brownfield site on the outskirts of Braintree.
